Taco Bell Just Announced a Major Drive-Thru Change

Taco Bell announced a major drive-thru change, incorporating AI technology to streamline the ordering process and improve customer experience.

Restaurants are increasingly using AI to simplify tasks, with Domino's and Chipotle testing AI for administrative and kitchen tasks, respectively.

AI-powered assistants in drive-thrus help workers focus on food preparation and dine-in guests, but can encounter technical issues.

McDonald's recently pulled its AI-powered drive-thru technology due to various issues, while Taco Bell is expanding its AI initiative.

Taco Bell's Voice AI technology will be used in hundreds of drive-thrus nationwide, aiming for improved order accuracy and shorter wait times.

Yum Brands!, which owns Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut, is pursuing an "AI-first strategy" to enhance food service operations.

Lawrence Kim, Chief Innovation Officer of Yum! Brands, expressed confidence in the effectiveness of their Voice AI technology after years of testing.

The AI rollout will continue through 2024, with plans for global expansion. KFC locations in Australia are already testing this technology successfully.
